More Than A Vote is proud to support local community groups who are on the ground educating, energizing and protecting Black voters:
These state partnerships build upon More Than A Vote’s earlier efforts to enfranchise returning citizens in Florida with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition.
In Michigan, More Than A Vote is supporting the Michigan Liberation Organization’s voter education campaign targeting 500,000 returning citizens that reminds them of their voting rights and provides education on how to request an absentee ballot and where to vote. MTAV is funding additional capacity for text banks and canvassing efforts in targeted communities in the Detroit area where many returning citizens reside.
In North Carolina, More Than A Vote is supporting the “Unlock the Vote” and “Know your Rights” campaigns by Forward Justice, which combine direct mail, phone banking, texting, and canvassing to educate returning citizens in North Carolina on their rights and mobilize them to exercise their rights at the ballot box.
In Wisconsin, More Than A Vote is supporting WISDOM and EXPO (EX-incarcerated People Organizing) in relational organizing efforts that assist the families and networks of formerly incarcerated returning citizens in voter education, voter protection, and transportation to voting locations. This campaign targets 200,000 Wisconsinites, 50% of whom reside in the Milwaukee area. WISDOM and EXPO are also targeting black and Latinx communities in Racine and Kenosha.
